Almost Relaxed It

I ALMOST relaxed my hair!!!  I went to the drug store, bought a box (not the one above), and brought it home.  My 10 year old says to me, "MOMMY!!!  Are you going to relax your hair????!!!!", to which I answered , "no".  She asked, "are you going to relax MINE!?", with excitement in her eyes.  I shook my head no, and she just said, "ohhh", in a sad way.

My hair is growing out now, and it's at a stage where I can ALLLLLMOST braid the very back, which was shaved down to a small fraction of an inch in July.  The top and sides are braidable.  I wouldn't go OUT with this little funny things sticking out of my head, mind you, but I am considering a salon nearby that does comb coils.  I need to do SOMETHING with it that I can keep moisturized for the Winter.  I also need a trim.

Needing the trim makes my ends look dry.  As my mother so aptly asked me yesterday,

"Lynnn...do you put any GREASE in your head"??

I hate that term....grease.  No, I don't greeeeze my headdddd.  LOL...I do use oils and moisturizers, etc (blog to come soon), but I steer from petroleum based products because, well, petro comes from the same stuff I put in my gas tank.  That's crazy.

I know many a natural that has toyed with re-relaxing.  I certainly did, but I have my blog sisters to keep me focused on the many styles and looks of the natural lady.  I have my Youtube girls to keep it real.

And, I do love my natural hair.  So, I will give the box away as part of a Youtube giveaway or something.  LOL....whatever!!!!

Love to you,

Miss Honey

Hello. My name is Lynn, and I'm a Sugar Addict

I know, it's been a while since I've posted. Sorry bout that.

Seems it may have been due, in part, to my obsession with sugar!! I found this article today on Yahoo! and think it is quite interesting...maybe it will bless you readers as it did me!

I never even CONSIDERED adding fruit juice to my iced tea instead of the usual 2 cups of white sugar! WHO KNEW!! LOL

Ahhh...the energy of YOUTH

This is one of the things I love about young people...their daring imagination.  I applaud my sister for her forward fashion sense.  She (and here sister Serena) have added a flavor to professional tennis that has never been and MAY never be again!!  WORK ITTTTTTT!!!!

Updating

Blogger-ites...I need to let you know what I know about products I am loving.
Carol's Daughter wasn't one of my favorites at first.  I thought it too indulgent and the results were, in my first thoughts, no greater than with using any other products.  But, it really is true what people say: it takes a while for your hair to "get used to" a product before you can say whether that product is doing anything for you.

While this product does barely anything for my 3c/4a hair, my youngest daughter is 4c, with highly coily, fragile, dry hair.  Boy, oh boy, does this product work wonders on her!!  Healthy Hair Butter softens her hair, adds just the right amount of oil (it isn't an oily product in my opinion), and I love how it makes her hair smell.  It is great to use to smooth down her edges after it's been blow dried, because a gel with revert the hair back to curly.  Unstraightened, it works nicely to keep he ends moisturized, too.

The next product I've fallen for is a vitamin!  Biotin.

I went to the podiatrist for an exam because my toenails break across in an odd spot repeatedly.  "Biotin vitamins is what you need," said the doc.  So off I go and bought a bottle.  Not only did my big toe nails get stronger, but my fingernails did also.  I've been a nail nibbler since I was a child, but look at these nails:

In addition, my hair has grown in so thickly.  I had a short patch right in the top of my head, and that is now at the length of the other hair around it!!!  I won't stop Biotin.

To All My Subscribers....

Ladies and Gentlemen...I am so very happy that you've stopped by to read and/or comment.  I am also happy for those of you that have subscribed, because I find it is the utmost Blogger flattery! LOL....

For you, I offer a little survey, of sorts, so that I may know a bit more about you!!  It's short, so don't worry.

You can respond in a list, a comment, a blog answer, however you'd like.  I thank you in advance!

If your hair is natural:

1.  How long have you been natural?
2.  What is the one product you simply will NOT go without?
3.  What is your best advice to someone contemplating going natural??

And for those of you who are not naturals:

1.  Are you considering going natural?
2.  What information do you enjoy most on blogs and websites about natural hair?

That's it!  Can't wait for your responses!!

Black Hair

This is a poem written by the undeniably talented Gene Cole, the Ebony Poet, a friend on one of my internet social networks ...it is posted here for your pleasure with his permission!

Black Hair

Be it curly
Nappy
Dreads
Or a doobie

It exemplifies her sensuality

Be it straight
Cut short or down to her waist
Tied up or natural
Or worn in a Angela Davis Afro

It is a part of her style and culture…

The modification
Of her hair’s beautification
Within her different styles
She builds a foundation

Of a strong black woman…

From the African motherland
The hair design of a black woman
Showed the art and beauty
Of our ancestry

Be it locks
Micro braids or cornrow
Perm or colored
A black woman’s hair flows

Style
Artistry
The definition of her culture
For a black woman’s hair is her creativity

It defines her spirit…

Hair Update!! (Feb/2010)

The product I am happy over right now is made by my girl over at MDW Natural Hair Services! I am IN LOVE with her twist/loc gel. For my hair type, (3B with 3C with 4B), it works CRAZY wonderful!!! I especially love that I don't HAVE to add any heavy oils to keep my hair from feeling brittle and dried out.

No, I'm not getting paid to endorse the product, nor was I asked!! LOL

Go over and check her out! http://www.mdwnaturalhairservices.com/products.html
